Ok, here is the skinny on the video I posted the other day.
"Matt" quit his job and decided to travel around Asia until he ran out of money. He began posting video of his trip so friends and family could keep track. Before one such video shoot his traveling companion told him to do his signature "dance" and they would post it as the daily update. Well, the video went from one friend to another and eventually launched Matt into YouTube history.
Some how the video ended up in the Marketing department at Stride Gum. They contacted Matt and asked him if he wanted to do another trip but this time, go ALL over the world. His reply was, "are you guys paying for it?" They said yes, and the rest is history!!

Lower 9th Ward.....
CNET Networks Blogger Daniel Terdiman makes a yearly road trip across the country. The trip length varies each year but he is able to obtain some of the best behind the scenes access to the places he chooses to stop at along the way. This year Daniel has been trekking his way through the South. While most of his posts consist of places like NASA Space Camp or the Gibson Guitar Factory, this last week took him to New Orleans. He was clearly disturbed by the amount of devestation that is still so evident in the city. This is all too apparent in the not famous "9th Ward".
The picture above is of a sign at the edge of 9th Ward. I found it best described in Daniel's own words.
In the three years since Hurricane Katrina, a kind of disaster tourism has sprung up, with many people paying for bus tours of the Lower Ninth Ward and other areas to see the destruction. This sign castigates those visitors for paying for such tours and for not stopping to get out and actually experience close-up the destruction and a site where so many died.
The picture says a lot. I will let you, through your own convictions, come to your own conclusion.

And the parent of the year award goes to.....

"Here son, let's feed the small rabid woodland creature. I will hold your legs That's it, get real close."
Apologize to heal.....
I don't like using my blog as a public forum to air my personal dealings with my family but I do believe this is an excellent medium for transparency.
Last night I was rude to my wife and hurt her as a result. I apologized, but I did it with the intent of defending my position and not with the intent of seeing her made whole.
I found this quote online today by G.K. Chesterton that I felt was totally appropriate.
When we hurt another person we need to apologize with the intent of seeing them made whole. Nothing more, nothing less.
Sarah, I am sorry. I love you and always want to see you made whole.

A stiff apology is a second insult.... The injured party does not want to be compensated because he has been wronged; he wants to be healed because he has been hurt. G.K Chesterton
