I fixed it!

Ok, I like any other man like the feeling of completing a home improvement task. Never mind the fact my wife,
Sarah, does far more around the house than I ever could. But honestly, doesn’t ever guy stand back and like to admire the work we did. We check it, then test it and revisit the scene of our accomplishment a few times throughout the day.
So yesterday I fixed the shower doors in our bathrooms. We have the glass shower doors and there is a little magnet on the top and bottom that keeps the door closed. The project consisted of “gluing” the metal strip that connects to the magnet back to the glass door. The entire project from start to finish took me about 20 mins. Now mind you, this project has been “pending” for about 6 months. (Procrastination will be the topic of another post
)
So the project was done and of course, I went back and checked it a few times and asked Sarah if she had seen it and noticed a difference, etc. So I am thinking about this whole thing last night while I was going to bed and while it is funny it made me think about how God feels about the things He has accomplished.
All throughout Genesis 1 after each day of Creation God says “it was good”. I guess this is kind of like me fixing my shower doors and it “being good”, right? The difference is, God doesn’t need affirmation from us to feel like the job was well done. He does love to hear how much we love, appreciate and value Him but he doesn’t NEED to hear it.
So here is my conclusion. I need to give credit where credit is due. Christ “fixed” and is “fixing” me and I need to acknowledge that fact. Not so much for His sake but for my own! When I thank Him and express gratitude for the myriad of “life improvement” projects He has completed in me, it keeps my perspective in the proper place.
Dear God, thank you for fixing me regardless the cost to you.

Let’s be that one leper that returns to the master healing and fixer and say thank you God!
Thanks Chaddy for sharing your heart and reminding us of what Jesus so graciously did on the cross. I love you and hope you got an answer to your lingering question.
I found you through your wife’s blog. She is a wonderful writer. I have really enjoyed reading some of your thoughts.
