"Band Camp" Day 2

I am taking a break this afternoon from a workshop to make this post and digest a few of the things that have been crammed in my brain and heart the last two days.

Yesterday worship was led by Paul Baloche and Bob Kauflin. We were taught by both Bob Kauflin and Charlie Peacock. We had various breakout sessions on songwriting by the likes of Phil Wickham, Sara Groves, Joy Williams and others. I cannot begin to express or articulate the amount of wisdom that has been shared with me by these amazing people.

Here is another thing, these guys are people. Simple, normal, air breathing, heart hurting, belly laughing people. Totally normal yet extraordinary people. I walked up to a number of these artists and they took the time to hear what it was I had to say or ask of them. One such example, I got a chance to sit with Charlie Peacock yesterday and he was the most down to earth guy. We talked about life and the simple, but difficult, idea of being “in” the world but not “of” the world. It was like chilling with a really humble Yoda! I was getting totally “jedi” with Charlie Peacock and I was soaking it up!!!

One of the highlights for me was to get up close to see and hear Paul Baloche lead worship and Phil Wickham do his thing. I have listened to these guys on CD and played their music both personally and in church. Let me say….they did not disapoint!!!!

Here is short clip of the morning session with Paul leading worship. I am sorry it isn’t longer but the upload time just for this was FOREVER.

Here is a small clip from the evening time with Phil Wickham. The sound was amazing and for being sick, the dude was ON FIRE!

My big take away from Day 2 and day 3 of Band Camp is…..I can write on anything Christ is Lord of. Because he is Lord of everything NOTHING is off limits! He is looking for people, just like me, to write about the amazing things, places, people and situations He has created.

Thank you for following me on this journey. There is more to come!!

    PDub rules.

I love that you did a crowd pan for your video.

I totally wish that the writer’s conference did that good worship. We sing hymns. Nothing wrong with that, I’m just sayin.

I’m pumped that you get to to be there. I remember pinching myself, thinking, “Did I just have lunch with _______________ ?”

Soak it in, brother. Soak it in.
