That is a song I would never take on, due simply to the number of others who have done remarkable jobs with it.
Jeff Buckley notwithstanding, Rufus Wainwright’s version is outstanding, but my favorite by far is the version Justin Timberlake recorded (with Charlie Sexton) for Hope for Haiti Now.
I know you’re probably thinking “Justin Timberlake, really?”, but just give it a listen, it’s great.
Oh, and your version is not bad either
If you haven’t heard it, you should try to hear Michael McDonald’s version of Halleluia…. And of course, Leonard’s own version…
